Auditions for Tomás and the Library Lady November 2nd, 5-8pm Fuse Theatre is seeking 3 actors: Female Storyteller: 30-50s, Spanish-speaking helpful, singing – plays NIGHTMARE TEACHER, JOSEFA (mother), and LIBRARY LADY Male Storyteller 25-30s, Latino, must be a Spanish-speaker, singing – plays ADULT TOMÁS, FLORENCIO, PAPÁ GRANDE Male – 8-11yrs, Latino, must be a Spanish-speaker – plays Young Tomás.  (Double-casting possible) Callbacks on Saturday, November 4th, 3-5pm Sign Up for Audition   i<Click here> for more information our Tomás and the Library Lady project.

Peninsula Art Walk 5K

Join the team or donate to the cause. We are joining the Peninsula Art Walk Sunday, November 4 to raise funds for our Dream Club Internship program. If you would like to join the team you must sign up on Razoo and start your fundraising page and invite folks to donate (or just bring us your donations the day of the event!) Our overall goal is $500. Art on the Square at the San Mateo County History Museum

 Art on the Square at the San Mateo County History Museum November 18th @ 1pm Fuse Theatre Ensemble will presenting a devised theatre piece using the Immigration Mural on the museum as inspiration. We will engage in community dialogue and encourage audience participation! Sequoia High School Dream Club will also be presenting their advocacy devised pieces done with Fuse Theatre interns during the same event. The museum is free that day and it’s a great time to start shopping for unique gift ideas as well!  This performance is during the Art on the Square event at the San Mateo Country History Museum, 2200 Broadway,

Tomás and the Library Lady

Fuse Theatre is developing a stage production of Jose Cruz Gonzalez’s play adaptation of Pat Mora’s children’s book Tomás and the Library Lady. This play is the boyhood story of Tomás Rivera and how he befriended a librarian in Iowa who encouraged him to read.  Tomás, the child of migrant farm workers, became a writer, a professor, and a national education leader.  Tomás Rivera wrote, “It is impossible to imagine Chicano literature without the migrant worker.” At the time of his death he was the Chancellor at University of California at Riverside.  The campus library now bears his name.
